Uche Fuels Dominant Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the last 16, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
