From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
