Catherine's Traditional Festive Carol Concert Honours Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her yearly festive musical service at Westminster Abbey, with guests including members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The sizable congregation will hear a mix of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from performers including award-winning actors.

Centred Around Kindness and Compassion

The central message of the event, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on Friday, is kindness and showing love to others.

In the audience are Jonathan and Anna Cordiner, whose child passed away from a tumour, and who set up a charity, a support fund, to aid parents with a youngster facing a life-limiting condition.

"The dedication, empathy, and kindness you show, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an profound impact to the lives of others," the Princess expressed in a message before the concert.

Carefully Paced Reappearance

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own steady comeback to public life following her health challenges and treatment, last month delivering her major oration since 2023, in which she reflected on recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Performance and Potential

Guests arriving at the Abbey can listen to young musicians backed by the charitable trust Future Talent, co-founded by the former royal to increase availability of musical tuition.

Carys Wood, aged 18, who is a trumpet player and is from Wales, has been helped by the organisation, with awards contributing to instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "amazing" to be performing at the evening's event.

"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," the musician remarked. She is now enrolled at the prestigious music academy, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to cultivate their performance abilities.

Generations Gathering

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who is a euphonium player, will also be at the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many important people," she said.

Attending the service will be people from various age groups.

That will encompass young Saphia Turner, nine, winner of a prize for youthful altruism, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to raise money for food banks.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

Taking to the stage will be Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a nautical singing ensemble, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "a dream come true."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be broadcast on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
